People per group, for a fixed team size
Use this when the activity itself sets the size — pairs for a partner activity, foursomes for a game, groups of 5 for a project — and you want however many teams that creates.
Regenerate for a genuinely fresh mix

Frequently asked questions
- Can I split by number of groups or by group size?
- Yes, both. Choose "Number of groups" to say how many teams you want, or "People per group" to say how big each team should be — group sizes are balanced as evenly as possible either way.
- Will the groups be different every time?
- Yes. Each time you click Generate, names are reshuffled into new random groups.
- Is this team randomizer free?
- Yes, completely free with no sign-up. Free results include a small footer credit; a one-time purchase can remove it.
- What if the names don't divide evenly?
- The generator distributes the remainder as evenly as possible, so with 10 names split into 3 groups you'd get groups of 4, 3, and 3 rather than one group being noticeably larger.
- Is this good for pairing students for a project?
- Yes — set "People per group" to 2 for random pairs, or a higher number for small project teams. Regenerating gives a fresh random pairing if you need a different mix.
